Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Leafy collects when you sign in and use the plant identification and health diagnosis features, how that information is used, and how long it is kept. It applies to the Leafy web application only.

Account information. When you sign in with Google, Leafy receives your name, email address, and profile picture from Google to create and identify your account. Leafy does not receive or store your Google password.

Plant photos and records. Photos you upload to identify a plant or diagnose a health issue, along with the species, nickname, location note, and condition history you create, are stored against your account.

Session data. A session cookie keeps you signed in. It is used only for authentication and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

Photos you upload are sent to a vision AI model to generate a species identification or a health diagnosis, and the result is saved to your collection. Your account information is used to show you your own plants, keep your collection private by default, and let you generate a read-only share link when you choose to share it. We do not sell your data or use your photos to train models on other users' behalf.

Leafy relies on a small number of processors to operate: Google for sign-in, an AI inference provider that analyzes uploaded photos to produce identifications and diagnoses, and a managed database and file storage providerthat hosts your account records and images. These providers process data on Leafy's behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes. See the technology page for more on how the AI processing works.

If you generate a share link for your collection, anyone with that link can view the plants and conditions on it without signing in. Treat share links like any other link you'd rather not broadcast publicly.

Your plants, photos, and diagnosis history are kept for as long as your account is active. Deleting a plant from your collection removes its associated photos and diagnosis history. If you'd like your account and all associated data permanently deleted, sign in and use the delete option in your profile, or reach out through the sign-in provider associated with your account.

You can review, edit, or delete any plant in your collection at any time. You can revoke Leafy's access to your Google account from your Google account settings, which will prevent future sign-ins.

If this policy changes in a way that materially affects how your data is handled, the "last updated" date at the top of this page will change to reflect it.
